Proud to be awarded LTA Clubmark status
Alton Tennis Club was accredited with Tennis Clubmark status from the Lawn
Tennis Association (LTA) on Saturday 13th Feb. Tennis
Clubmarkis a club’s opportunity to be recognised for
achieving excellent standards. All types of tennis club, with a junior
section, are eligible to apply, including traditional tennis clubs,
school clubs, tennis programmes based in parks, and those working within
the commercial sector. Achieving Tennis Clubmark means the LTA endorses
and supports a club’s tennis programme, policies and procedures, action
and development planning, and club management.
"We are very proud to have been awarded Clubmark status, "
said Adrian Jones, Chairman of Alton Tennis Club. "Havingbeen
working towards achieving ClubMark status for the last 2 years, we are
delighted to have made the grade".
The award was presented to Alton Tennis Club by Simon Johnson of the Hampshire
and Isle of Wight LTA. Alton Tennis club is only the 23rd tennis club in
Hampshire to have made the grade for ClubMark, and is the smallest club
so far to have achieved ClubMark status.
This award, combined with the recent court lighting means we can offer parents
high quality coaching in a safe and positive environment. Our junior
programmes are going from strength to strength, and we would encourage
any parents to involve their children in what's going on at Alton Tennis
Club. As well as providing valuable health and life skills, the junior
programmes are inclusive and friendly, and are an opportunity to make
friends and enjoy a fascinating sport that will set them up for life.
